What We Collect and Why

Traffic measurement (Google Analytics 4, consent-gated). If you accept analytics in the consent banner, Google Analytics 4 records which pages you view, how long you stay, and roughly where you are visiting from, and sets the _ga cookies listed below. Before you accept, it does not load and no _ga cookies are set. Separately, Vercel Analytics from our hosting provider counts page visits without cookies. We do not send your name or email to any of them.

Our own event log (always on). We keep a simple log of site activity in our database: a sample of page visits, quiz results shown, and form submissions, with your browser type and the page you came from. It holds no name, email, phone number or IP address.

Product behavior (PostHog, consent-gated). The same consent choice controls PostHog. If you accept, PostHog logs which quiz steps you completed, which result you saw, and which buttons you clicked. If you decline or ignore the banner, neither PostHog nor Google Analytics loads.

Session recordings (PostHog, consent-gated). With your consent, PostHog may record a replay of your visit to help us find usability problems. Form inputs and email fields are masked before the recording leaves your browser.

Email address (explicit opt-in only). If you sign up for the safety checklist or updates, we store your email in our database and with Resend, which sends the emails. We do not subscribe you automatically.

Quiz answers. The build year, state and material you enter are used to show your result and are recorded in our event log without your name or contact details. They are only linked to you if you send a referral request.

Referral Requests to a Local Pro

If you fill in the form asking a local asbestos pro to contact you, we collect your first name, email, phone number, ZIP or postal code, state or province, the material, the approximate build year, what you need and your timeframe. If you came from the quiz, some of these are filled in from your answers.

Only if you tick the consent box, we share your request and contact details with one licensed asbestos professional in your area, who pays us a referral fee. They may contact you by phone, text or email about your project, and they handle your details under their own privacy policy.

We keep your request together with a record of your consent: the exact wording you agreed to, when you agreed, and the page you were on.

You can withdraw your consent or ask us to delete your request at any time by emailing hello@isthereasbestos.com. We will stop sharing it.

What We Sell and Share

We don't sell your browsing data or your email address. If you ask for a professional and tick the consent box, we share that request with one licensed professional, who pays us a referral fee. That is the only time your details go to another business for its own use.

Who Processes Your Data

• Vercel hosts the site and handles every page request.
• Supabase is our database: event log, email sign-ups and referral requests.
• Resend sends our emails, including referral alerts to our own inbox.
• PostHog runs product analytics, only with your consent.
• Google Analytics measures traffic, only with your consent.

These providers may process data in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your data may be transferred there when you use this site.

How Long We Keep It

• Referral requests: deleted after 24 months.
• Email sign-ups: kept until you ask us to delete them.

Canadian Users (Quebec Law 25)

Residents of Quebec have the right to access, correct, and delete personal information we hold about them. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@isthereasbestos.com. We will respond within 30 days. Our privacy contact for Quebec requests is reachable at that same address.

EU Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to processing. Contact hello@isthereasbestos.com to make a request.

California Users (CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and to delete it. Passing a referral request to a professional who pays us a referral fee may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law. It only happens when you ask for a professional and give consent. To opt out or ask for deletion, email hello@isthereasbestos.com.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For significant changes, we will notify email subscribers directly.
